I can't say she's a Mary Sue, since the movie hasn't even come out yet, but given what Disney did with Rey, I'm a tad bit worried. Defeating Thanos has to be a team effort, if Carol arrives and just beats the fukk out of Thanos, that's gonna be really disappointing.

Mary Sue comes from context not power set. The brand new hero who 1.) inspired Fury to start the Avengers, 2.) saves the day being the only one who can time travel, 3.) and singlehandedly goes toe to toe with Thanos would be a Mary Sue after how hopeless Infinity War was.

The Hulk is volatile and mentally ill. Superman is a powerhouse whose rules and experience are clear -- if you got kryptonite you win. Batman would be a better example of a Mary Sue with how writers insert him into big events as a tecnological super genius.
