Star Wars been trash for so long tho , trash stories ,new trash characters etc, again why is a franchise that’s at it’s all time low being compared to marvel who is doing well, true they not perfect either but it still doesn’t make sense to me to compare the two, the marvel mcu story line been cool so far

I'm not comparing anything about Star Wars to the MCU, so much as I'm pointing to why people mentioned Rey.

They're giving out a lot of information about shorty before we see the movie, which can lend itself to the Mary Sue claims if it's never explained. (Which is what people would like to avoid as that's the flaw with Rey from Star Wars...she's strong but it's never explained how or why)

Edit: And for the record, I am personally withholding judgment on the claim for Captain Marvel. Just tossing in a couple pennies.

Watch the original trilogy. All good to great movies. The prequels suck, but the Mr. Plinkett reviews of them are great. Force awakens had its flaws, but it did some things very well and left a lot of open story points that should’ve made a great sequel.

I'm STILL furious at The Last Jedi.

No movie has ever left a worse taste in my mouth . In fact only one story ever has even compared across all forms of story telling.

Rey was a scavenger who defeated a trained Jedi in a day and then fought him to a stalemate on like day 5, that's Mary Sue-ish.

Plus everyone around her has to look cowardly and goofy around her in order to showcase what a badass she is.

Kylo ren seems like a weak non factor as a main antagonist when compared to Rey.

Finn went from a trained badass stormtrooper way above his peers in the comic to a bumbling fool of a janitor so he didnt distract from the fact that only this random girl can save the day.

Poe was supposed to play the role of solo as the dope pilot but isnt really needed as Rey is shown to be a better pilot even with no experience. Just jumps behind the cockpit and is an expert.

fukking Luke Skywalker had to play the role of a coward who caused all these problems and ran away in order to showcase Rey's heroism.

Superman is a powerhouse whose rules and experience are clear -- if you got kryptonite you win. Batman would be a better example of a Mary Sue with how writers insert him into big events as a tecnological super genius.

Superman is such a perfect man that writers have to create some magical rock plot device for anyone to have a chance of beating him. The limits of his powers have been described as near limit less is stated that he puts mental blocks on himself as to not overpower people too much. He's the leading example of what a Gary stu is in comic books.

Batman is a deeply flawed, borderline insane character who happens to be highly intelligent and rich. Damn near everyone around him hates his guts cause he's constantly toeing the line of a hero and flat out psychotic.

Well put for Batman. One of my favorite lines in Batman begins is Alfred telling him after he gets back with Rachel so he could treat her after she got gassed at Arkham is how he was almost ready to have Bruce committed once he heard his plans for becoming Batman until he heard it wasn’t about thrill seeking. Even the people close to him know he’s at risk of going overboard.

Except for Chris Hemsworth and post-FF4 Chris Evans a case can be made that all the heroes are goofy looking. Thanos nearly lost to a teenage boy and two Sherlocks and storywise it made sense how they got him.

I'm sure the Russos found a way to make Thanos defeat believable, and I doubt it will be through hand to hand single combat.

I find it weird how the Russos have done nothing but drop essential piff movies in the MCU yet people aren't willing to give them the benefit of the doubt all over Captain Marvel.

Nope not true . It’s because as. Comic book reader I am not a fan of the way marvel decided to recently push her as like a female Superman (she was fine when she was more conflicted type of superhero) . Also for all the build up of the mcu to have it be that captain marvel a character we never saw or have any connection too being the one to beat thanos with her infinite powers is kind of a letdown . I’m giving the Russo’s the benefit of the doubt but marvels been doing too much telling about how great and strong and fabulous Carol is and not shown me a thing to back that up . It has nothing to do with her being a female as Wonder Woman and Harley Quinn success showed its that Marvel is seeming like they are pandering .
