AWD came in handy this winter (which was one of the worst we have seen in years). But let's say I lived in Arizona or Florida, where it's hot and no snow, over RWD and
FWD would I need it? AWD is more expensive and burns more fuel as well.

If you live in a region where it doesn’t snow and/or has all maintained roads, you don’t need an AWD or a 4WD vehicle.

That being said, if you’re an off-road enthusiast, enjoy Overlanding, or simply like to explore backroads (like myself), it is absolutely necessary. Especially in a place like Arizona and the American Southwest.

If you don’t plan on doing any of that, it isn’t necessary.
