Car going forward while in reverse.

What could this be .

I was attempting to park on a decline, and once I took my foot off the break it just kept on going .

Usually it'll roll forward a little bit but it stops eventually. This time it wouldn't stop.

If automatic I'm guessing your parking pawl is fukked.

If manual leave it in 1st and pull your e brake.

Hold on you said in the title it's going forward in reverse, then you say when trying to park it doesn't stop. Which is it?

When I took my foot off the break pedal it rolls foward even tho the car is in reverse.

It doesn't move when I put the car in park

What kind of car is it? Like homie said up top, it could be a parking pawl issue, but it’s really hard to diagnose shyt over the internet. Have you checked your trans fluid? Always start with the simplest shyt first then go from there.

It doesn't move when I put the car in park

That's normal if on an incline in reverse or drive it moves, that's gravity. If it was in park still moving I would be correct about the parking pawl.

Your car won't have enough torque in reverse to keep it from lurching foward

yeah i hear that but i've been driving since i was 16 and never asked why the car rolls on an incline. its not even a car question its a physics question lol. i guess i take my knowledge for granted
