So back in August I accidentally hit a car. The damage wasn't major as he was able to drive off. But it was noticeable. Police were not called as the damage wasn't major. So the next day I decide to call in the claim. The reason I let my insurance know is because sometimes things can go wrong later on due to an accident So my traction control light ends up coming on. So if i use my turn signal and after turning, my signal wont go off. I have to turn it off manually. Also I am now experiencing an oil leak. And when looking it up, it says an oil leak can happen months later due to an accident. My insurance company says they need proof that the accident happened when it happened. But the only information I got from the other driver is a car rental report. It has the contract number, his name. last4 of license and so on. But there's no contact information for him. I also don't have a police report. They are trying to say that because I got the insurance policy just a few months earlier, it seems fishy. But Im not gonna call in a claim just for my insurance to go up. Im not gonna have a random copy of a strangers rental car report.

Yeah you're screwed brother. They might give you grace depending on whos in the Claims Manager but you're liable.

You're asking them to pay for damages/ repairs to a car with no proof that an accident occurred other than a receipt for someone else's rental. They can't determine place or point of impact, or whether the damages on the vehicle were the result of the alleged accident or if they were there prior to. And the policy is only a few months old? That's a lot of red flags for a customer who's only put in x amount of dollars into a premium to expect thousands shelled out in repairs and a rental.

Yea you waited way too long

Even if you didn't file a police report you could've atleast had SOMETHING, photos, video from your phone or see if a ring camera in the area caught it (I've done this and even cacs have emailed me the videos from their cameras with no issue :hubie:)

Gotta remember these insurance people don't WANT to pay out anything, you gotta have all of your receipts and ducks in a row in order to press them and get assistance
