Aight brehs I need some advice on this, I never truly car shopped; my first car was my uncle's and he sold it to me for $1200 (95 Maxima, my parents went half) and I had it for 2 years before it was too much to maintain. The one I'm driving now is my pops' older car that he let me hold to get to work (04 G35) which still runs great.

The other night my older cousin and father talked about it and my cousin asked me if around summertime he gave me 4 stacks for the car and I could buy something else with that on top of money I save from work, and I said yeah. I'll have to take extra shifts at work but over the next 5-6 months I think I can save at least 6k...on top of the 4k my cousin will pay for the G35. So I'm thinking a budget of 6-9k. My quirk/catch is I don't really want a note, I'm looking at shyt in the 2007-11 range instead trying to buy something from 2013/14 and finance it.

I'm pretty much into 4-doors with some sport in its DNA. Cars I was thinking of, a wish list mainly of cars I personally don't see too many people getting;
08/09 Pontiac G8 (these are hard to find)
07-11 Volkswagen GTI (I really like the bodies that came in 2015 but like I said I'm not tryna finance)
07-11 Acura TSX (the body changed in 09 but I'm cool with both styles)
07-11 Mitsubishi Lancer Evo (seem hard to find)

The next 4 are more common but unavoidable in this price bracket;
07-10 Dodge Charger
07-11 Honda Accord
07-11 Nissan Altima
08-11 Nissan Maxima

If y'all got any advice/suggestions/warnings on this I appreciate it all. Also is it unrealistic to not want to finance or am I doing the right thing?

Not reading all that crap, I will say this though:

Only go American if you are getting a truck or muscle car.

Anything else rock foreign

I would keep your pops car breh, no sense taking on the added expense

If you have to sell it don't be afraid of a note... if your credit is good the shyt will be like a phone bill :yeshrug:

Of the ones you listed if you are tired of maintenance I would go Japanese. In your budget you can probably get a G35 or even a G37. They will run forever and have no problems.

the Evo is the best car on your list, but if you find one it's gonna be out of your price range.

If you're "on a budget," you need to buy something reliable, good on gas, and cheap to maintain. And don't listen anyone telling you to finance, cop that shyt with cash.

The best thing to do is keep driving the G35. Are any of these cars really even an upgrade from that?

I was thinking that too. Mainly cause I know the car has been well-kept.

And I ain't got no credit :birdman:
find a G8 breh
There's one in my area I see all the time...gray joint. G8 is hard to find. I actually don't even see them on the road that often at all.

Yeah people hold on to these shyts too. Evos and Subarus are cars I see on the street often but when you search for used cars on the market they get scarce.

Other cars might be cheaper to fix but the G35 is reliable. I'll probably fukk around and keep it I got 5-6 months to decide. I just needed some experienced opinions though.

The "taking extra shifts" makes me think you should keep the G. If your mind is made up, I would choose the Maxima or TSX off your list.
