That's one of the most non-organic #1 rap songs ever. Her fans pump up the initial numbers and then the singles drop off a cliff with no staying power.

There was more buzz about the Grammys beef than the actual song. Same way "Hot Girl Summer" flopped something serious is one of the biggest blown layups ever based off the execution.

The truth is that Nicki is basically in a similar position that Lil Kim was in when Nicki first came out.

The difference is that Kim always kept good relationships with everybody like Mary J., Missy, Diddy, etc so that she will always be a special guest at their concerts and award shows. Nicki hasn't and she's become an island unto herself.
End of the day the rules are gonna be exploited, only question is whether you play the game or not. Nicki announced her album months in advance. I guarantee you she's gonna bundle tour tickets, now that Billboard has revised the rule banning bundles counting towards first week sales. I'm not sure how much she will do first week, maybe the plan fails. But she's clearly shooting for 200k+.

Cardi can do that without bundles, btw.

That first album was almost *too larger than life. She'll never live up to it, and it seems like she may be insecure about it with all of the pump faking when her singles don't do even close to what the ones from that first album were doing, both sales and impressions wise.

But, she appears to have a good enough team around her to keep her getting brand deals, commercials, and dropping singles (disguised as loosies after the fact) that's keeping the bread rolling in so :manny:

This. She can just do what Drake has done. Hop on songs that already will be big without her.

She built her base with TV & cemented it with rap. A lot of newer artist could learn to build the foundation
She’s clearly boosting these songs I’ve never even heard of that little Chicago girl she did a song with
