I've bought from carmax once. It was okay. Wasn't in the mood to haggle and I'm not really good at it so it wasn't a bad deal and I probably could have haggled a bit lower at a regular dealership.im in the market for a used a5 or a used g37. does anyone have experience buying from carmax?

lmaoI don't buy where I can't haggle. It's a car not a pair of shoes. Not looking at the sticker price and going" yeah that's cool".
Sell your car to carmax, never buy a car from Carmax. They have a huge network so they will pay more for your car than other dealers. If you are spending more than 15k on a used car get a certified car from the specific dealer you choose.
I am in the business
You are right, I would not even recommend (unless you need, I understand) buying a car for under 6 thousands...I would put that on a lease and better myself over the two or three years. as for your charger, what is your budget and wants? the Dodge dealer by you should have a better deal than carmax.. and most of the time it is a car that has been maintained better..carmax will buy salvage and fix it.Not gonna lie, I had thoughts about buying from Car Max because they generally have newer autos with low mileage, which is difficult to find unless you buy from a dealership. I don't fukk with lemon lots, but I have dealt with Car-Mart(only a step above)in the past and I refuse to buy another 7-10 year old auto for the price of a new one.
I'm in the market for a Challenger and Car Max has produced the best results thus far. I have to travel at least 75 miles to get a quality selection, instead of having to settle for the few that are in town that may not be the right model, has too many miles or costs too much.
Nobody is selling quality cars anymore for lower than 3-5 stacks. An automobile that's 1,000 or less will need at least 1,000 in repairs and I don't have the cash on hand(well, I do, but that is a terrible investment and I'm not coming off that cash). I want a newer car and I don't have that kind of cash on hand, so I have to deal with payments.

Oh well damn.. You can get a new sxt all day for that. And probably a 2013 r/t lease return with around 24k miles. The only thing you said that you should be worried about is the shot credit. I mean with 20% down you are getting accepted but the apr may be high. See if you can get outside finance.Oh shyt... Salvage... nah, I'm good. Good looking out.
My budget is 20-30 with a monthly payment of 350-400(give or take). Used is fine as long as it's under 30K mileage(give or take). The Challenger is holding value, so you won't find one cheaper than that with low mileage. I'm willing to pay up to 20% as a DP. My credit is shot right now, so I doubt the payments would any be less than 375-475, which is also the range I'm willing to pay. As silly as this may sound, this is sort of a dream car in the sense that I'm riding it until the wheels fall off and will never sell it unless it falls to shyt. Money isn't really factor, other than I need to make sure I'm not getting ripped off(like buying a car that came from a salvage yard).
My insurance will be cheap because of my age, and possibly, because it won't be a Hemi Challenger.
