A lot of Cena's PPV matches get overrated simply because they are kickout spamfests which is the cheapest way to get the viewer interested in how the match will end then.

Kickout spamfests aren't intrinsically less worthy of praise than any other match structure though. It's all about the execution.

A great match with multiple kickouts of finishers is still a great match.

So this all falls on Cena or ??
Yes, because we've seen big AJ matches for 15 years, and we all know damn well that's not his formula.

The Roman matches were better than the Cena matches. The only difference in the WWE, there is no atmosphere like a big Cena match, as no matter what the WWE pretends to say, they matter the most of any match on the card.

But starting with Twice In a Lifetime, Cena has just been relying on that, Angle level kickout spam, and the US title run added the new fold of random weird indy offense almost out of spite. The Cena of 07-12 >>>>>>>>>>>>>> the Cena of now. He's had an almost eerily similar falloff to Kurt, except his peak was longer.

LOL @ how he took a 3rd styles clash and bounced up in like 10 seconds to catch AJ off the ropes

Super Cena
Low key might be the most :francis::martin::shaq2::aicmon: finish to a cena math since summerslam 2010 against the nexus.

Edit: it's this or his extreme rules win against Brock where he had no offense until the final move of the match.

Tbf the ironic thing about the styles clash is that it doesn't look very devastating. It looks like something that should be kicked out of by the strongest tier of wrestlers relatively easily. It's about 50% of the impact Jericho takes when he misses a lionsault.

Same applies to the AA actually. Neither of those moves look like the guy on the receiving end would be "finished".

Weak/regular looking moves being treated as knockout blows just because they have the label "finisher" attached to them as if it's a video game is the kind of thing that breaks the illusion that you're watching something real.

It should take like 12 Styles Clashes to keep Cena down :manny:
