Any of you ever bought one.

Just got some bad news on my 2007 Nissan Murano. The transmission is failing. It's only a matter of time so I might as well get another car.

A new one is out of the question...I absolutely do not want a car payment. I bought this one brand new in 2007. I'm not someone who gets a new car every few years. I want it to last.

I want something around the same size as the Murano...a crossover SUV. So I'm thinking Toyota or Honda.

What other brands you all recommend?

FWD vs AWD vs 4WD?
CVT vs automatic?
Hybrid vs Gas?

I'm not a car person at all.

Budget is $25,000.

Scotty the Mechanic says CVTs are bad. And if you have 25K,just get the transmission fixed. Stop wasting money on European trappings.

- Toyota RAV4 (CPO) you should be able to get a 2019-2020 and that should be a solid option, boring, noisy engine, but reliable
- Honda CRV, same as above.
- Mazda CX5, you could probably get a 2020 with your budget, really solid option, drives better than Honda and Toyota and just as reliable, it is tuned for a sporty ride rather than comfort.
- Toyota Corolla cross, this is the CUV version of the sedan. Think of it as a smaller RAV4, it has AWD, decent trunk space and you can get it brand new off the lot for $25k.

I would avoid Koreans and Nissan as reliability won't be as good as the ones listed above.
