Pupi, two of his roommates and a few members of the Texas State football team got more than they bargained for when they found enough empty chairs at the bar — right next to "Ochocinco."

"When we got there, they told us it was a 45-minute wait, but they told us 'the bar is open seating,'" Pupi said via phone on Tuesday. "We look over and he's sitting at the bar by himself. We talked to him for 30-45 minutes and he was so funny — real nice and polite."

As Pupi and five others enjoyed their food and conversation with Johnson, Pupi asked if Johnson had time to play FIFA while he was in San Marcos. Johnson replied that he was about to leave to presumably beat one of Pupi's fellow Bobcats in FIFA at their apartment, but that he would re-connect with Pupi on Twitter to set up a gaming session before he left Texas.

After several hours of silence, Pupi said he and his friends thought Johnson had flaked. But, Pupi said he was woken up by a direct message from Johnson on Sunday with a simple request — "Wake up, son."

Two hours from when the message was sent, Pupi got a call from a Florida number. It was Johnson, and he was coming over to play FIFA.

Pupi and two of his roommates, Giuliano Cattaneo and Kregg Lemons, opened their cottage-style apartment at the Village on Telluride on Sunday for various members of the Texas State football team to try their hand against Johnson, who is known for seldom turning down a FIFA challenge.

Pupi said he felt like Johnson was a "bro" as Johnson answered any questions players posed, even a request to hold a training session for wide receivers — to which Johnson "politely declined."

The fun came to a temporary stop when Johnson left to pick up donuts for the group of guys coming in and out of Pupi's apartment, and again when Johnson bought pizza for everyone.

Many had jerseys and footballs autographed and took photos with the pro-football star before he left. According to New Braunfels Sports Collectibles Show's Facebook page, Johnson was in town for an autograph session.
