Here we have the first comments from Boseman since the surprise announcement that he'd be playing T'Challa last week. The actor describes the feeling of being on stage for the reaction, and also acknowledges Wesley Snipes as being the first black actor to lead a superhero franchise with Blade.

CBR managed to nab Chadwick Boseman at an LA press event for some quotes regarding the massive announcement from last week that he'd be stepping into the role of T'Challa/Black Panther in Marvel's Captain America: Civil War, and then again when he takes the lead in a solo outing for the character. This is the first time we've heard anything from him since that announcement, and to say he seems very exited would be understatement. Though the Black Panther movie is obviously a huge deal and will indeed be Marvel Studio's first project to feature an African American actor in a leading role, Boseman is quick to point out that Wesley Snipes brought another Marvel Comics character, Blade, to the screen in a series of movies many years before -- and that Anthony Mackie's Falcon also played a prominent role in Captain America: The Winter Soldier. He does, however, say that the studio plan to take a different approach with this particular movie.

"The reaction on stage at the El Capitan Theater was, like, amazing. The way that Marvel set it up and wanted to surprise people with it, it was one of the best surprises that I've ever been a part of. I've heard from a lot of my friends, and a lot of people I don't know have congratulated me -- but I've actually not heard a lot from other people because I went away. I tried to get away from everything just to ground myself. But it's been amazing. I'm so excited! I'm ready to start right now, and they're telling me, 'Slow down a little bit!'" It's never been done....It's been done before in different ways, but it's never been done exactly like this. Wesley Snipes also had his own franchise -- you have to acknowledge that. You have to acknowledge what [Anthony] Mackie's doing [with the Falcon]. But this is a little different in the way that Marvel is presenting it, so it's amazing."

Better to reign in Hell than serve in Heaven
I like that he's acknowledging Wesley
that was really dope to me too.. wesley started this black super hero shyt and this marvel shyt.. and gets no mention or credit at all from them or the rest of the superhero world

he seems like the next denzel.. great actor, ladies love him, he's not "safe" like will, but he ain't a "get in trouble" type nikka either... he's just that dude right now. .kinda like denzel is/was

i hope marvel does this right

They better stick to the fukking script :birdman:
movies seem to nerf every character compared to the comics... i doubt they include ALL of what the panther can do.. or make more than 50% of this movie based in africa with a mostly black cast

but then again, maybe that's the "something different" they are looking for
