He already went to prison for it though, so what peace of mind is he looking for? Either way it's a bad look for him to do this while affiliated with the Jordan brand. If he absolutely had to share his story he could have waited til he was retired.
You don't see how the story of a former gang member who went to jail for murder as a teenager and now is the Chairman of one of the most successful brands in the world can help at risk youth?
Imagine if the CEO of Apple wrote a book telling the world he was a skinhead growing up, and he did time for murdering a young black girl. He did his time and is now writing a book to inspire at risk white youth
I'm pretty sure he'd be fired on the spot, and rightfully so.

This is the point I was trying to make. This is something you reveal to your THERAPIST, not the world. Every single media about black people affects us all. Now, people are going to be looking at black men thinking we murdered someone, and turned our lives around. We don’t have the luxury of being judged as individuals. And for all you other feelings first brehs, until we have enough of an economic base where we’re not dependent on money from others. YES, KEEP THE NEGATIVE PERSONAL DETAILS ABOUT YOUR LIFE PRIVATE
Do you know how many people regularly get hemmed up for (allegedly) committing petty crimes like shoplifting (even if it's just some lunchmeat and bread to feed themselves) or fighting (even in self-defense) just because they were the wrong complexion or gender?
You on some "don't do the crime if you can't do the time" cac logic bullshyt when we're talking about something else entirely. Real world, life-long "consequences" and penalties that persist long after time served.
NOBODY in this country should be denied gainful, career-track employment or housing because they idk, once got caught with a couple grams of weed or stole a car at 18. I'm not at all saying the shyt is perfectly fine but people can't even turn their lives around these days because some petty shyt from 10 years ago is still hanging over their heads.
I got a older cousin just like ya. Was running the streets as a late teen/early 20s. Did a few years for burglary and illegal possession.
Now he’s nearly 30 and whines about how he can’t get anything but manual labor work(still lives with my aunt) Should’ve thought about that shyt when you was a super thug.
Damn. He killed a random person for basically no reason. That’s indefensible.
On a side note, this is why I don’t join the soapbox chorus about how all these drill kids are all irredeemable pieces of shyt who are morally inferior to their noble elders. Dudes been sliding on the opps since the 60’s. Kids emulate what learn and see from their elders.

Ya cousin was y'all grannies favorite or something, huh?
I'm sorry, send me to hell butcan't make this shyt up with this guy
"I'm so sorry Mike. I know this is an act that is inexcusable by its very nature and I'm not asking for sympathy but can you find it in your heart to forgive me?"
MJ: "Was the kid black or white?"
Chairman: .......well...h-h-he was black. I know I know, it shouldn't matter what race someone is, killing a person is always wrong and basically unforgivable. Of course I do feel shame that I set back our own community (and sneaker-buying age bracket)but still I hope there is some way you could maybe think about there being a possibility of forgiving me? Does that sound like something you see yourself maybe being able to do in the indefinite future?
MJ:
Chairman: Wow...Mike...I'm so relieved..and..well...somewhat amazed you're willing to forgive me. I do have to stress, and maybe I didn't say this clearly enough before, but this kid was completely innocent. He had nothing to do with my friend's murder and I heard he was actually a really good kid who had a bright future ahead of him. I mean...I just feel so bad even after all this time...
MJ: Black kid though, right?
Chairman: Well yeah, but I don't think that really matt...
MJ:
"Let's go grab lunch and talk about how we can get LaMelo on board. We need that cross promotion thing poppin' off."
Spoken like a true upper middle class cac or spoiled negro.
The hungrier you are the more difficult it becomes NOT to steal, especially when it's little simple shyt like just enough food to get by. And I know damn well your main gripe isn't drunk driving so come off it.
Including the wealthy, most people will have done two outta three of the above at some points in their lives.
And when the wealthy steal...just oh Lord.

Yeah yeah nikka we know. You hate that man. Move on.
Fam I been on my last $75 to last me two weeks. Not one time did I think hmm lemme go steal something. It’s too many food banks, churches, social services etc to go hungry.
But I’ll let you keep making excuses for poor decision making.
