I understand its the hardest league to do it in and should be celebrated but the champagne showers is excessive. Playoff berth, clinched division, DLS/LCS/WS wins is like 5 celebrations. Too much.

Because less teams make it out of any of the other sports..it's actually an accomplishment it's not the nhl or nba where more then half the league makes it and it's no big deal

I agree, its funny as when the Tigers beat the Yankees in the ALDS in 06 these nikkas OD'd with the celebration, celebrating around the field, spraying champagne on fans over a DIVSION SERIES win

play 162 games and make the postseason where only a one-third of the league (used to be less) make the postseason, and think thats not a cause for celebration, brehs.

The season is a grind and its the hardest postseason to make by far in major American sports.

Saying that, I will never understand LDS celebrations.

In the Royals case, they had not made the playoffs since 1985, so them celebrating with champagne is fine with me

Up until around 1970 only 2 teams made the playoffs in baseball, which math would tell you was the championship series. Then they upped it so that a whopping 4 teams total made the playoffs, that lasted until 1993. Then in 1994 they increased it to where 8 teams made the playoffs. They added an extra wild card game two years ago, but the point still stands that throughout history it has been very difficult to make the playoffs in baseball so a celebration was indeed necessary.
