I guess he doesn't.
:leon:

That would mean he's smarter than most by cutting out the label and going straight to the source right?

:leon:

What you think?

i dunno, i think its a good move too, but its also too early to be decided maybe?

its just how the business may be moving now, with streaming taking over. labels are irrelevant, but you see more and more artists doing business directly with companies like apple, tidal, etc. so they are sorta becoming the new labels, in a way.

we'll find out if thats tight in a few years.

glad a young black man is living his dreams and getting his money regardless :yeshrug:

but chance def aint 'indie' no more:yeshrug:

smart enough? :jbhmm:

I dont think it takes much intellect when your father has Presidential connections. Notice how Chance only been relevant while Barack has been in office. He is a dope artist but he is no hustler by far.

He not like a Master P or J Prince who came from the dirt and made it happen yet were 100% independent.
What does this post have to do with mine?
You think Obama is helping Chance out in his career ? :mjlol:

One never really needed labels tbh. Master P & J Prince showed us that in the 90's. One just needs money, if you listen to P's story its clear as day; he got an big investment and No Limit records was born.

But there are still opportunities only relationships can get you aka SNL that Chance obtained. I salute Chance but you cant give him 100% credit for that. He is not the one writing up the business plans and so forth like P was.

Chance got mad connections which helps, but he doesn't have a label controlling what he makes which is the main point of being independent :manny:

youre right, you dont really need a label if you have a product people want. and people love chance, i am just more speaking on the whole idea that hes indie, and out here making these moves on his own. hes technically indie, but hes still got a big ass machine behind him. if anything, the definition of 'whats indie' is going to become more of a discussion, if it isnt already. hes not signed to a major, so hes indie....buttttt, hes doing deals direct with apple music so.....thats not the same 'indie' as say someone like the jacka, or payroll giovanni.

he aint out here hand to handing it like he mighta been 3 years ago, booking his own shows and shipping his own merch from the post office. dude has big time managers, big time lawyers and Apple music pushing him and his brand, the same way a label would be doing if he was signed to say def jam or interscope. hes still producing that same dope product that people want though. so in a way its cool because the quality control, at least for now, is staying the same even tho he's rising in the ranks of the industry.

if hes out here painting it as 'hes still doing all this shyt by himself on some indie grind', thats a tad disingenuous aint it?

but hes def in a interesting place where not many artists are/or have been, up to this point

nah, if you operate like a major label then lets just call it what it is.

There is Universal, Sony, Warner, and whatever label Chance has. Those are the 4 major labels :yeshrug:

Lets keep it 100. Chance is dope but his music and his personality is not groundbreaking like a Young Thug to take on a whole life of its own. He is clearly the product of mainstream connections.

Young thugs music is groundbreaking now?:comeon:
