The Senate and the Electoral College need to go. Also elections should have early voting a week out from election day optional voting by mail for all and election day becoming a national holiday everyone has off.

The Senate is just too broken it almost automatically favors the republican party (unless they really fukk up) as they have more states that are red than blue even though the overwhelming majority of the population lives in the blue states. The Senate only is really there to block legislation the majority of the country wants as is the Electoral College to block the president the majority of the country wants.

Things like consolidating the representative government into a single body, dropping the electoral college and reforming voting all need to happen but the republican party would never allow any of those things because they're all extinction level events for them.

There is just no justifiable reason election day is just a single day. You should be able to roll up to the local clerk's office a week out and file your ballot there. Our elections are indefensible.

Ranked choice voting, and an election day holiday are the only changes i think we need.
The senate gives Wyoming with it's population of about 580,000K 2 senators. The county I live in in Michigan has maybe 100K less in total population than that entire state and it's the 5th most populace county in Michigan. Los Angeles has like 4 million people and they have to share the same 2 senators as the rest of the state's 36 million people. There's no logical reason 580,000K people should command 2 senators while a state of 40 million also gets 2. That state warps policy by giving such few people that level of influence. The 5 million people in Washington DC have no senator while 580,000K people get 2.

The senate and house need to be rolled into one body.

Its a union of states :manny:
Each state has equal say in the union, as per the constitution(the contract).

I favor our current system as it protects the nation from imprudent convulsions and other democratic pitfalls

Why? Barbarians at the gates?
After seeing a motor pool further than I could see packed full of 2.5 million dollar trucks made by Oshkosh...it became clear where that money is going.

oh yeah...those trucks were deemed obsolete and inoperable less than a year later.

The contract also said black people were 3/5th of a person. It's been wrong and it's wrong here. Those 580K people live in the same union we all do. No way should there be that much of a power imbalance for so few people.

I agree 100% the electoral college needs to go, but it should not be a major focus only when elections come.
I really don't think the left would have yelled about it so much if Hillary won.

Also, Democrats have no face to criticize the electoral college when they have superdelegates.
BOTH superdelegates and the electoral college need to go.

I think what you mean is we need to get rid of gerrymandering? or am I wrong?
with that said, I don't think if Dems had the majority it would be much better.

Ya I agree here, also many times the place to vote is super far away and many companies only let you leave at 4pm.

But to add to your list:
1) 3rd party candidates need to be able to compete, right now it's very very hard for them to get into debates. This happened after Ross Perot and Bill Clinton got scared of an independant's success that he created the debate commision, and they decide who goes on debates.
2) Get money out of politics IMMEDIATELY

I don't think anything will change much as long as the 2 party system keeps winning

You think this way because you feel succession is ridiculous and can never happen. :hubie:Not gonna argue it... we can just agree to disagree.

The laws of the land operate(and are crafted) under the belief the states can leave. So representation for each should and will likely remain equal.
We should look to other reforms.
