Yo. Something I’ve noticed in this gen. I’m probably hella late but whatever.

-Why tf do all the character models look like action figures w/ “real lighting” applied to them? It’s hella weird.

Don’t get me wrong, they look “realistic”, they “behave” in a “realistic” manner. But it’s something I’ve noticed over the last few years. It’s like the uncanny valley.

Also..

-I don’t like the way clothes and accessories, drape over the models. It still has like “skin” physics. Like…a second skin type thing going on.

If the character is wearing something that drapes across the chest or it maybe like a badge (saw the T-1000 trailer) it bends and moves along the model like…skin. It doesn’t look like an independent item that is simply hanging from the clothing, it’s like a part of the model’s body.

Is it just me, or does that seem odd? Like, back in the 90s, 2000s? Okay I get it. But STILL? In this day and age. Idk. I’m rambling, I know. But I know I’m not the only one who sees it.

In regards to clothes and stuff, those realistic physics make the performance take a hit. They may do some minimal shyt like hair or coattails flapping in the wind but a whole outfit would be pretty taxing on the system, especially it’s something like an open world game with multiple NPCs in a large area

Games like Tekken and NBA 2K have solid clothes physics but even still those games are kind of “contained” to a specific stage and not a large open enviroment
