The deal is worth $83.25 million withs $65 guaranteed, sources told ESPN Senior NFL analyst Chris Mortensen. The $65 million guaranteed would give Rivers the highest guaranteed money of any player under their current contract.

Philip Rivers, San Diego Chargers agree to terms on extension

eh, decent deal I guess. Not sure about 65 million guaranteed for a 33 year old QB, but that's the standard that seems to have been set these days.

Every team will hand these contracts to franchise QB's

65 Million guaranteed for Philip Rivers :wtf:

What's he done on the field to deserve to be the highest paid.. He's 34 years old, where's the upside?

On the other hand

Flacco has been to the playoffs 6 season out of 7, A Super Bowl Ring, and the best td to interception ratio in the playoffs in the history of the NFL...

51 million guaranteed.. It's reasons like this why the Ravens:lawd: are a winning organization in the toughest division in football for the last 15 years :smugdraper:

Flacco got 120 million and 51 million guaranteed :dahell:... Your mixing up signing bonus and guaranteed money

How Cam Newton's $118.466 million contract stacks up to Joe Flacco's $120.6 million deal

Newton got a $22.5 million signing bonus and the deal averages $20.76 million per year. He got $60 million guaranteed with a $10 million option bonus.

Flacco's deal included a $29 million signing bonus and $51 million guaranteed.

But your right 65 million is too much for Rivers and I'm chargers fan :mjcry:. We have no other option, he's still a top 10 QB

Right.. my bad. I was typing with my eyes and not my brain.. i knew it was 51m

If rivers couldn't win it with LT and Gates in their prime i dont see how he gets it done now..

Charger Fans better be prepared to not be charged up this season, and for the foreseeable future :heh:

I don't think it's a bad contract. Dude is one of the highest rated passers of all-time, just had some real bad luck and some bad situations. Last season he looked better than he ever did. Then what happens? Lost his starting RB, and his whole line was full of 3rd+ stringers mid season due to injury.

I don't put too many of the Chargers losses on his hands. I love this new system he's in with Mike Mccoy. It fits him like a glove.

Norv's offense was terrible. Dude had a Hall of Fame RB and changed his blocking scheme. Had a busted O-line and still called for 7-step drop passes. HB draws from shotgun on 3rd and 6+. This is why I'm not liking him coaching Bridgewater either. Even as OC that guy's stats don't live up to all the compliments he gets from his Dallas days.
