Restorative Justice Mediation

A Black woman shot by a police officer who said she was trying to reach for her stun gun requested that the charges be dropped after the pair sat down together.

The St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney’s Office has dropped the second-degree assault charge against former Ladue officer Julia Crews, 39, at the request of her victim, Ashley Fountain Hall, KSDK reported Monday.

In April 2019, Crews responded to calls about a shoplifter at a local grocery store and attempted to detain Hall, who instead ran off. That’s when Crews shouted that she was going to deploy her stun gun. Instead, she pulled out her firearm and hit Fountain-Hall once in the torso.

Hall lost part of her spleen, spent three weeks in the hospital and developed post-traumatic stress disorder.

Crews resigned days after she was charged and the city of Ladue paid $2 million to settle a lawsuit from Hall last year.

But rather than go through a trial, Hall opted to go through “restorative justice mediation” with Crews and the help of Seema Gajwani, the chief of the Restorative Justice Program for Attorney General of D.C. Karl Racine.

:dahell:
“Too often, the criminal justice system gets in the way of resolution and healing, even though that is what these two women wanted and needed,” Gajwani told KSDK.

:gucci:

St. Louis County Prosecuting Attorney Wesley Bell also participated in the Zoom call between Hall and Crews.

“Ashley said as soon as it happened, she remembered Julia coming up to her apologizing in tears and staying with her and that meant something to her,” he told the station.

Not only Julia seeing her remorse and Ashley forgiving her, they literally told each other they loved each other four or five times. Having done this job for a few years, I’ve never seen that. They both were there to speak their truths, to apologize and accept the apologizing.”

Lol sadly those of us who are disgusted by this are in the minority. In this particular case it might have been a honest mistake. But this whole forgiveness thing that black people seem to take pride in is one of the reasons I’ve decided to start my own religion. It’ll be a blend of only the parts of the Bible that does not insinuate u need to be a doormat. I’ll mix in some passages from the Koran as well. Plus some Krishna teachings.

stay tuned.

Seems like Black People are always quick to forgive CACs. No matter how harmful they are.

It's unlike anything I've ever seen before.

Slave mentality :francis:. Why do you think the slave masters wanted them to read the holy bible, taught them to turn the other cheek.

If she’s ok with her decision then I’ll let her live

but me? I don’t believe in that turn the other cheek, “forgiveness is for you not for them” stuff.

I want her punished and throw on some extra charges and time for good measure. There has to be accountability. And it’s double bad because you have been trained.

many suffer from Stockholm syndrome. that cop would have never afforded that black woman the same forgivness if the roles were reversed

The Black forgivness shyt is a problem. Most religions are weoponized to pacify so An update and trim to those archaic teachings for the current black era are well needed.
Doesn't the law punish people who make mistakes? Why is this broad any different?
this is the American Just-Us system at work:mjgrin:
