Cheap fun 30 MPG car???

Z is on gas brehs. I drive ~500 miles a week for work and average 20 MPG on premium. $4/gallon, that's $100 a week. If I could get something that does 35 MPG on regular my gas bill would be cut in half. Save me $2600 a year I'm thinking of getting a little cheap hoopty just to get to work in. Something around 3-4K maybe. Gotta be stickshift Any ideas? I'm thinking something like a Corolla, Sentra, Neon etc from the 90s.

I like that Honda CR-Z but that's way above the $4k budget.

Acura Integra's. (last generation) are decent on gas. or an EK Civic Hatch.

some dude has a 96' EK Hatch in Jersey for $3500.

That said, I would def mess with a last gen Integra 4 door for the right price. Thats a sexy little car. Thinkin about that Infiniti G20 too...

With the price range you're stating you're pretty much screwed. What I always say is if you're spending less than 10k you've got to cut something: practical, mpg, cost of parts. You know?

I just had a 337 GTI and it got great gas mileage but the thing was a parts nightmare.

If I were you I would bounce around the forums bimmer, subaru, vw, maybe audi B6/B7 a4 and see if someone is interested in trading.

Just remember it's much easier to ask for forgiveness than permission.


There's a lot of good lease specials going on in the summertime you may want to look into as well.
