For anyone who streams PS5 games, have you tried either or both? I have a Steam Deck OLED and I have tried Chiaki recently, works well for the most part, but I was curious if others thought the Portal is the better option of the two, screen size, controller etc or SD and Chiaki is just about as good? I may just buy a Portal and compare but was curious on others opinions who have tried both options.

I used to use Chiaki in the past on Steamdeck for a while, but it got problematic for me out of nowhere for no reason that I could find and I couldn't get it to reconnect.

My experience on the portal has been a lot easier and smoother, more often that not. Most especially since the update that allows for using your cell phone to authenticate into wifi that requires it. It rarely ever doesn't work now unless my PS5 or home wifi isn't working right.

As for performace quality when they're both working optimally, they're round about the same. Smooth enough for single player games that don't require the utmost reaction times. That said, even DMC5 worked well enough for me on the Portal. I could do just frame Judgement Cuts with Vergil pretty consistently. You will experience latency at some point in some fashion. No if's, ands or butts about it. So for that, I'd never recommend online competitive play on either device

I think another thing to keep in mind is portal is still getting updates and it’s gotten a lot better even since launch.

Chiaki 4 Deck has slightly better latency and also works via PSN now (no more port forwarding). Plus the added functionality allows you to customize your experience a lot more than the Portal to add things like gyro aiming, or dock it and play on a monitor / TV, touchpad aiming, 4 back buttons, etc.

Can't speak on regular Chiaki.

I haven't used Chiaki in a while on my Ally but about a year ago or so, the experience was extremely inconsistent. When it worked, it worked great, and then other times it just lagged, seemingly for no reason. No matter what I did to the network, even when I had the PS5 hardwired and I was right next to the access point with the Ally, it was just inconsistent.

Chiaki works fine for me, I have no complaints. I haven't tried it outside of my house in a while so I can't comment on how that is.
