The increase in juvenile crime definitely is related to remote learning. I live in the hood. This is not a speculation but an observation. Kids that would normally be in school got to hanging with kids that are regular truants with a previous criminal history. These bad kids put a battery in a lot of these lil school kids back.
This is amplified if you live in a neighborhood with a high ratio kids that were already truants and into bullshyt before the pandemic.

Lead poisoning leads to an increase in criminality. This is because lead damages the brain, specifically lowering cognitive ability and impacting impulse control. Creating the perfect recipe for dumb nikka shyt.
You don’t need lead poisoning to commit senseless crime. But it’s sure as fukk ain’t helping. Chicago has enough issues influencing people towards a life of crime. The least the city can do is remove lead poisoning from the equation.
I live in a hood as well. And from my observation these kids were on the verge of dropping out long before covid/remote learning.. Just like before covid, people was tired of going to work.. Did you know a lot of teachers didn't come back as well?
