Its the only active scene in hip hop right now. cloud-rap is more like an interrelated set of ideas/aesthetical approach. Same with that alternative rap/hipster scene that mainstream publications have been pushing... shyt aint even geographically based.
NY has like a micro-scene with Action Bronson, French Montana, Harry Fraud and Smoke DZA. Hip hop is all about individual artistry these days.

the majority of nikkas that hate drill on here is a bunch of hiphop, ex backpack nikkas that probably scribbled unreadable shyt on walls wit sharpies and got they pockets dug into daily by the local grimeballs
and yea trap beats & simple bars from the south helped produce this element...but what the south lacked was real street nikkas that really was bangin for real for real..nikkas from the south copied our gang life stye, and we took they music style..fukk who don't like it
