Because the fact that the dude has women means he's a quality man. They dont want the man that other women are (apparently) not interested in. Same reason they'd take a man who is a known cheater over a guy that's always been faithful. They need to know that theyve got a man who can have anyone but hes made the choice to commit to them. It's a huge self esteem booster and it validates that theyve made the right decision.
I know it sounds ridiculous but that's the logic of a lot of women. Specifically the ones who are insecure about their life choices.
