American universities still carry global prestige in China. Also, competition is fierce to get into certain Chinese schools. Might as well buy off US administrators with scholarships, bursaries etc.

Rich Chinese families do this in Australia, UK, Canada etc.

Yeah, like America, China has limited spots open for their schools but much larger population. That’s a big reason why Chinese students attend Universities around the world.

It’s like when you don’t get into your school you choose another, not stop your education.
