It's diesel-powered...nothing more to see here folks...
Has a long way to go to be sea/combat worthy as well. America by far still has the naval superiority to any other country. Diesel isn’t the worst thing depending on where they want to deploy this thing but I do wonder how they’ll power everything on the ship with just conventional fuel

While China is primarily primarily concerned with patrolling the South China and East China Seas, 75% of their oil is imported. If they do get into a conflict, a blockade of Saudi oil to China will stranglehold the country and then they have to choose between filling up their carriers or their airplanes. Not the best position to be in.

Eh. I'm fairly certain that it's main sphere of influence will be near the South China Sea, so the main drawback of a diesel carrier (it's lack of range [10K Nautical Miles] in comparison to a nuclear-powered carrier) is null.

This is a pretty big deal.

When they secure their BRI lanes it'll be more significant.

Until then, the moment China flexes, they'll get cut off.

It use steam turbines not diesel, the only different between this ship and Ford is the source of the steam is from oil fired boiler not nuclear reactor.

Most of that fuel are used to power factories that produce goods for western countries, if war happens and western countries boycott Chinese goods China could shut down unnecessary factories and introduce fuel rationing to their citizens and extend their oil stockpile for several years. Moreover they currently building more pipeline with Russia and in emergency they could turn their vast coal reserve to liquid fuel like German during WW2.

UK has plan to install EMALS on their gas turbine powered carriers, you don't need nuclear to power EMALS.
