Meanwhile trump is defunding the department of education in America :snoop:
They were trash anyway. Education in this country needs a serious upgrade and colleges should be barred from getting financial aid for dance, journalism, gender studies and any useless PHD programs that can't get you employed after graduation.

I agree that the Department of Education is trash, but A lack of critical thinkers is partily how we got to this dystopian time line the first place. liberal arts have their place; College isn't just about job training; it's about education.

I'd like to challenge you on this because I generally agree with your other posts as a poster. I encourage you to look beyond the individual act of the coursework and look at the industry that they support. Not everybody needs to be a super stem, astronaut , physicist, doctor. Those three programs support tens of thousands of jobs in the economy, and hundreds of thousands of secondary jobs. You'd be surprised that some of their graduates make more than you or I.

For example, are you aware that
dance and journalism are multi-billion dollar industries? They are quite literally some of the things that make America great. Did you know People will be flying thousands of miles from europe or east asia to watch the New York City ballet or the Boston ballet? Also are you aware of the dance instructors who aren't at that level are able to charge higher prices than lawyers per hour in major cities?

Are you aware of all the businesses which are supported by Broadway and their dance companies for musicals?

Even at the regular people level. Like I highly encourage you to look up the dance classes in your area and notice that they're making more than $160 an hour. I didn't realize this personally until I had to learn a dance for a social event. Even in my mcol city the dance graduates at dance center we're charging $80 for 30 minutes sessions. :wow:

And these are the normal dance facilities that regular people like you or me or your girlfriend or your children may attend. Think of places like Hollywood for the dance schools specifically created to train music artists like usher or timberlake. This is why I say it's important to look at the degree program from the perspective of their industry.
.

And then we go on to journalism.

Are you aware how big of a entity CNN is? Or the New York times? For the Washington Post? People across the world know America for our journalistic impact. Even on a local level journalists are a needed institution and they must be trained on how to do journalism properly so everyone doesn't become a Fox News pundit.

If a local corporation was dumping toxic waste into the creek behind your school, it's normally the journalist who will discover it first and report it. I'm reminded of a great expose that journalists did after doing research on black Louisianans who had been sold land over toxic dumps. Those journalists had to systematically look up various leads and various politicians who are hiding the whole system, and it is through those journalistic skills that those black Louisiana residents could eventually Sue for for damages they were unaware of in their life.

Even gender studies is useful
in marketing because sales firms and marketing firms often employ them as agents or consultants. NPR actually did a documentary about why black men like menthol cigarettes. Did you know it was because the big tobacco firms hired gender studies consultants in the 70s who's studied and trained on how to market to us? This is still very applicable in the modern era. Because if you were to start a business tomorrow selling sporting goods or feminine hygiene products, the marketing firm you would hire would be staffed by gender studies people. Similarly the algorithms on SEO programs are fed by research from gender studies professors and graduates.

So there's more than meets the eye to every single course offered at a university. Personally, it took that NPR documentary on how gender studies people were being used as marketing agents due to their unique knowledge on the behaviors of specific genders that made it click to me that there is significant value in the liberal arts degrees. And no I don't mean some philosophical and metaphorical value. I mean direct economic value to society as a whole.
