Dracula untold was aight to me, wasn’t a bad foundation.

I'm curious to see how she'll handle these blockbusters. Haven't seen Nomadland yet but from what I read the film features a lot of real people in it, similar to her approach on The Rider. That's so vastly different from shooting a big Hollywood studio flick I just don't know if it will fit her.

Did you see The Rider?
I saw this you know artist interviewing artist thing she did with Barry Jenkins and she said some interesting things about her Eternals work.

• She grew up on manga and it is kind of an ode to manga
• She seeked Marvel out and pitched them.
• And she is really into world building like Star Wars
• Also, appreciated the partnership with the studio.

Another interesting aspect of the interview Barry Jenkins was more enamored with her than vice versa and he is more accomplished. He is doing a prequel to Lion King that's a blockbuster and only considered doing it because Zhao did the Eternals.

Yes, I'm a big fan of The Rider actually. I think she's very talented but I'm not sure how that talent will translate to a big budget blockbuster. I remember thinking it being super wild (and inspired) that she got to do The Eternals. I'm rooting for her.

Zhao being attached to this gives me "A Girl Walks home alone at Night" by Ana Lily Amirpour vibes.

However, since she's already completed Eternals she probably has a good feel for action movies now.
