20 year old MJ had lived out a whole 10+ year music career already as a member of the jackson 5 already going platinum

20 year old CB was a hot upstart with potential that caught on quick but had a lot to prove still

I wouldn't say it's the exact same position, no

Both were in transition from being a child stars to an adult star.

He was heir to Usher’s throne… at best. But his leaked hit with Rihanna stopped him in his tracks. Could he have been as big as Michael? I doubt it but his talent is undeniable.

Where is CB’s Thriller? Or Bad? Or Off The Wall. Even if everything MJ put out after Bad, was mid, nothing CB had done can comparable to the first half of MJs run.
Yup. Usher had Confessions. Bobby Brown had Don't Be Cruel. Ginuwine had The Bachelor. Hell, I’ll give Justin Timberlake credit for Justified.

Chris Brown doesn’t have one classic album. He’s got hit singles but never a body of work that truly established him.

I agree. I never understood the comparison. That's when I knew music was on the decline.
