B1G schools have the biggest schools and largest alumni bases around the country

Of course its better for money if they are the best conference.

The SEC bias is not about that, so why bring that up? Its about propping up schools in the SEC because they beat Florida or Tennessee like those games mean anything this year.

Now I like watching the top SEC school play on tv don't get me wrong BUT imo the SEC schools rise to the top of the polls at an insane rate.. and if they lose they'll only drop down like 3-4 positions which will put them back at the top after a 3-4 game winning streak. I'm happy for Mississippi State:sas1: but they weren't even ranked at one point but when they finally got ranked they jumped into the poll at #14:sas2: How is that even possible seriously? Every new team just entering into the poll has to start in the 20's:yeshrug: 'Bama and Auburn will only two 2-3 positions if they lose. East Carolina doesn't even budge and they should be a top 10 school imo. And ESPN just started the SEC Network so of course they're giving them that extra push. I know Big Ten has huge alumni bases all over the country but outside of OSU, Michigan, Michigan State, they don't have the most exciting brand of football for the masses. Big Ten basketball is crack but top to bottom football wise I don't know if the Big Ten would be better for business than the SEC for espn

they are the biggest schools in America and are spread all over America, of course it would be good for business.

The issue is the B1G Network being on Fox and not ESPN. If it were on ESPN, believe me UMD would be a top 25 team right now despite being average.

ESPN still shows a nice amount of Big Ten games.. But the Big Ten has too many schools that will probably never contend for anything in football, good schools but probably will never crack the top 5 in football anytime soon if ever- Iowa, Illinois, Maryland(no diss), Indiana, Northwestern, Minnesota, Purdue, Penn State, Purdue, Rutgers. These schools aren't must see tv for people outside of their alumni base

Mississippi and Mississippi State being good this year just made the SEC even more easier to rally around and promote. They're a freight train

I know you're a Maryland guy... Outside of Nebraska, Michigan, OSU, Mich St... do you see the Big Ten turning the corner in football within the next few years?
i dont see why not?

the SEC wasnt the hottest thing on the streets 10 years. Their Saturday games used to eb the worst of the college weekend. Games were always 7-3 or 10-7 on CBS. They had terrible QB play as well.

Thats the point I am making. It could be the Pac 10 or ACC in the future. Point is this is all a cycle.

:mjlol::mjlol::mjlol: All I can do is laugh at the arguing. This playoff mess is going to get ridiculous.

Good observation.. They're 15 now.. I doubt they'll sniff the top 5 if they win out

Really? They'll be in the playoff if they win out. The committee already said conference championships will weigh heavily on the decision.

until the media starts giving other conferences the benefit of the doubt when it comes to losing a game, there will always be cries of sec bias, and since the sports media is pretty much driven by espn and their agendas, espn will get the brunt of the hate. mich st is on the outside looking in if they win out in after early season loss at fukking oregon of all places. tcu gonna get the short end of the stick if they win out with 1 loss coming at baylor. sec schools lose and it doesnt hurt them as bad because they spin the fukk out of those losses as good things for the conference. when oregon lost, it wasnt "that pac 12 sure is deep, its a test every week in that conference." but when georgia loses to an average ass squad like south carolina thats the spin they put on those types of losses. if oregon wins out, i can already here people in those discussions talking about their close win @ wash st being a negative, but when talking about bamas close win over arky it gets brushed off because its an sec game
