We hinted a bit earlier via Twitter that it could be a good time for another NFL bad news dump for a reason. We’d heard that something may be happening today in connection with the Vikings’ investigation of former punter Chris Kluwe’s claim of homophobic comments and retaliatory discharge.

It didn’t happen. Or, perhaps more accurately, it hasn’t happened yet.

Or maybe it’s still happening, and Kluwe doesn’t like whatever it will be.

Never let it be said that I didn’t try,” Kluwe said at roughly 5:00 p.m. ET. “Apparently the Vikings want to do this the hard way.”

Kluwe then suggests that more will come out next week, primarily because he’s currently at something called Quakecon.

“And yes, shyt is about to get real,” Kluwe adds. “Unfortunate that it has to come to this.”

“This” apparently will be the lawsuit that Kluwe’s lawyer recently said was coming if the Vikings don’t disclose the report of the investigation. The two sides were due to meet Thursday, presumably in a last-ditch effort to resolve the situation amicably.

Except his release makes total sense as a football move; veteran K/Ps get cut in salary dumps every offseason.

Keep it moving, quit grandstanding.

Mike Priefer suspended 3 games

The Minnesota Vikings have suspended special teams coordinator Mike Priefer for three games, the team announced Friday, as a result of two independent reviews of accusations made by former Vikings punter Chris Kluwe.

AP Photo/Charlie NeibergallSpecial teams coordinator Mike Priefer will be suspended three games and required to complete specialized workplace training following reviews of Chris Kluwe's allegations.
The Vikings released a statement Friday, saying in part: "In this instance, Coach Priefer fell short of what is expected. Accordingly, we have decided to suspend Coach Priefer without pay for the first three games of the 2014 regular season. In addition, he will be required to satisfactorily complete specialized workplace training that will include an emphasis on the managing of diversity and sexual orientation.

"If Coach Priefer completes this training and conducts himself in accordance with our workplace policies, we will consider reducing the length of his suspension by one game."

Kluwe, who claimed in a Jan. 2 Deadspin piece that special-teams coordinator Mike Priefer made homophobic remarks during the 2012 season and that the team cut him for his support of same-sex marriage, said earlier Friday that he would file a lawsuit after negotiations on a settlement broke down.

The Vikings planned to release a summary of the report on Friday evening. Kluwe's attorney, Clayton Halunen, said Priefer would be suspended for his conduct, but that the suspension likely would not meet Kluwe's request of a four-to-eight game ban. Halunen and Kluwe had asked for the Vikings to donate $1 million to charities that support LGBT-friendly causes, but the team announced Friday it was donating $100,000.

ESPN.com Vikings reporter Ben Goessling contributed to this report.

They've been planning this for months. My ex is a paralegal at the law firm that represents him. Apparently they have some huge smoking guns on the Vikings

I get that he's an activist. But dude was shyttin on people when he played there. He started missing a lot of kicks and the team cut him. Then that's when the accusations came out. Idk man :manny:

Kluwe is a punter

had he not been such a gung ho "equality activist", his ass would've got cut because he was routinely in the bottom half of the league in punting statistics.... you can't hide behind the gay like Jason Collins did and get/keep yourself a job.

Be mediocre ( at best) at what you do and be very much outspoken....wonder why nobody stood up for you:heh:
