On top of that, they fired Stallings after his second year. Going winless in the conference doesn't give you any job security, but that paired with Dixon's treatment doesn't make the job very attractive.
As for Capel, he needs to prove he can lead a program again, especially if he's got his eye on K's seat whenever he retires.
