hey @The Dankster could you put down the bong for a minute and respond to my questions?

Can you name any players or games that Chris Paul has shut down an above average point guard?

How come Tony Parker abuses him in the playoffs?

Can you name a single playoff game where he has locked down a player at his position?

This is what I love about Googlers and guys who post shyt OTHER people post. See I live in the LA area. I get EVERY Clippers game. I actually go to multiple games every year.

Cool shot chart breh. It clearly is attributing things that shouldn't be tied directly to Chris Paul and if you watch Clippers games, you would know that. Now can you name a single above average point guard he's every shut down? Can you name any playoff games he's shut down someone? Don't worry breh, ILL WAIT. I've never once seen him do anything to Russell Westbrook, Steph Curry, or Derrick Rose. He couldn't even stay in front of an old Jason Kidd. The reason he gets in is he is good at stealing the ball by shooting the gap and the fact that since Gary Payton there have not been any good 1s in the defensive category. He gets in because of steals and by default. He is however, not a good defender.

Kobe Bryant, well after the fact of his defense falling off, makes the all defensive team. MANY players through out the years have made it when they are not good defenders. Lebron James, who is NOT a good defender, has made it.

Tony Parker averages 15-5-3 on 41% shooting and 21% 3pt-shooting against Chris Paul in the playoffs. That includes half-a-dozen times when CP3 has held TP to 11 points or fewer on 33% shooting or worse.

(CP3, on the other hand, averages 21/9/4 with 3 steals on 48/37/86 shooting against Tony Parker in the playoffs.)

As far as "shutting down" guys goes, at the elite level of point guards, NO ONE shuts down anyone else regularly. They're too good. Taking out for a second the point guards who have minor offensive responsibility and just put all their energy on defense, all the actual elite guys are always getting burned by each other on a regular basis.

You say that you've "never seen him once" do anything to Rose. But Rose averages 17-7-5 on 44% shooting in his games against CP3. :umad:

Westbrook averages 19-7-5 on 41% shooting in his 25 regular season games against CP3. He's a tough matchup for Paul because he's just too big for him, definitely his toughest matchup in the league. But other than that one dominant playoff series that Westbrook had against him in 2014, CP3 has been able to control Westbrook more often than not. And what elite point guard in this league can say that they control Westbrook all the time? Who has held him to less than 41% shooting?

As far as Curry goes, in their one playoff series Curry outplayed CP3, averaged 23ppg on 44% (39% from three), so it's not like he destroyed him. In the regular season, CP3 has tended to outplay Curry, though Curry had 3 big games against him this year that moved his number up a bit (like he's had against everyone). They both play well against each other.
