Has Cena had a true classic? Batista, HBK, HHH were all very good but idk about classic. Rock/Cena might be a classic off build/hype but even from a non-technical standpoint the actual match was kind of boring, unlike Rock/Hogan.

I could dig but there's been a ton of classic headlining matches from Cena... as of late, the Punk matches, MITB, Summerslam, and February of last year, and the Daniel Bryan Summerslam match stand out big time, definitely the Brock Lesnar match from Backlash from the last two years

Cena is a very interesting case. I agree that the HHH, HBK and Batista matches are really fukking good (specially the sprint against Bautista) but I wouldn't call any of them a classic.

Hell yeah. I spend as much time as anybody saying Lawler as a commentator is lame modern day but he for the career he had deserved MUCH better than that BS with Cole.
Cole got way too much offense in and should have been pinned clean after a rare piledriver

I also think the Jake the Snake match deserves a fair shake. The match was an excellent match, they just didnt let DiBiase get pinned like he should have so there was no lasting effect but even as a 5 year old kid that match was one of the first I saw where I gave a fukk about workrate
Regarding Jake, I always felt the perfect booking for WM8 would've been Hogan v Flair and Macho v Jake. Its weird that Macho and Jake never had a PPV match. They had that Tuesday in Texas jawn but not a real high profile match. Which is understandable seeing as Jake was done after WM8 so there wasn't really much opportunity for a PPV match, but still its a shame one of the GOAT feuds never got the iconic match it deserved
I've never seen that match cited as anything but the tournament final in which Savage won the title. Is it classic just for that reason? I think they def. coulda put on an all-time great match, but time (roughly 9 minutes) and the story being told didn't really allow this one to be that.
