That and marketing are the big ones. The included marketing can push a popular song into becoming a hit record which then can lead to it being picked up in commercials and movies where a lot of backend money is made.Sample clearances are probably the biggest one
Touring and promo. If you listen to artists like Little Brother talk about how touring is set up as independent artists versus major label artists you’ll see how much of a grind and hassle it is doing it by yourself
