Yeah Clive Barker signed over the cinematic rights to New World and after the 2nd movie they kept churning out sequels solely to keep the rights from reverting back to him.

Most of the later movies weren't even meant to be "Hellraiser", it was drafts of other scripts the studio repurposed. That's why they seem so random.

Barker actually wrote a book meant to take place after 1 & 2 titled "The Scarlet Gospels", it came out in 2015.
