Sorry to my Philly posters who are struggling with the trash but Philly government is wilding with those disrespectful salaries.I live in backwoods ass Decatur, IL and I wouldn't be surprised if our sanitation workers make more than Philly's. Prior to this deal, sanitation workers who collect curbside trash earned a salary of $42,500 to $46,200, or $18-$20 an hour. NBC Philadelphia reported that those wages are the lowest of any of the major cities they looked at. Hourly wages in the other cities they looked at ranged from $21 an hour in Dallas to $25-$30 an hour in Chicago.

The current starting salary of a Sanitation Worker is $44,821 per year.
The current labor agreement provides for periodic increases to $92,093 following the completion of 5 ½ years of service.
