I gotta give the nod to Death row. Cold Chillin' had an amazing roster but Death Row some of the highest quality out the genre has ever seen. An while Cold Chillin' Production great death Row's Production was :banderas:. And while Cold Chillin' was wildly influential on hip hop Death Row literally changed the game.
Thoughts and opinions?

I would still say cold chillin...I mean back in the 90's when hip hop was getting a lil stale..cats like the wu,nas, boot camp.etc inspired by the music of cold chillin help kick off the second golden era..even now..though not on a mainstream leavel...but some off the best hip hop starts with artist inspired by artist on cold chillin...not to take anything away from death row cuz they did have a big impact..i just feel cold chillins is longer lasting...i would add Loud to the argument too...

down by law is seriously the most underrated album ever. the production on that joint is just flawless. that one gets talked about even less than smooth assassin and both of those albums are classics.
