After what happened this week in South Carolina, it has become apparent that more responsible citizens need to be armed because there are loonies out here that want to do innocent people harm. Gun legislation is slow and the NRA is the most powerful lobbying group in the US.

I have seen in another thread the church members who were discussing how they feel they must have their guns in church just in case, and this is done at my church as well (in Texas).


Obviously gun laws differ from state to state (Sorry NY), but do you Coli brehs/brehettes have something in your home for protection? Or even a step further have a CC or CHL?

No and if I did it would be to protect against home intruders not racially motivated shooters which the vast majority of black Americans won't face.

There is no war, yes, but the reality is that guns are everywhere and many who would be responsible gun owners don't feel obligated to have one, while many people who shouldn't have one go out and get one.

Nah. Even if I did, I would have to carry preemptively. While everyone is on they gun shyt, chances are when you REALLY need one, you won't have it, unless its already loaded and ready
to go. Good luck convincing people to be around you, though, lest your shyt go off by accident.

Sorry to hear that breh, hope everyone was ok. My roommate snapped 3 vertebrae in a boating accident so I know those can be rough.

Illinois. Im in Chicago, which has some pretty oppressive laws for weapons. Even shooting a mofo in your house could get you locked.

Not that it matters, I will likely never own a gun for anything other than sport.

I'm saying that looking at the recent events and saying "I need to get a gun!" Is pretty silly imo especially when there's a 99.9% chance you'll never experienced anything like it and if you did your gun probably won't help which is the case with most shootings.

Now if churches want to stock up? Fine even though I don't believe it would do much at all but all the people on here talking about how white people are stocking up and we need to prepare for when it really pops off are just buying into the hysteria they made.
America isn't ready for any type of mass scale racial violence or really any sort of violent uprising.
People are too comfortable and generally don't have the views that would push them towards doing such a thing and anything that starts is getting squashed immediately so
I just want tighter gun control.

Just an anecdotal example, but in my neighborhood there was recently a string of burglaries that were targeting Hindu Indian familes bc they keep a lot of gold religious objects in their house and largely don't believe in owning firearms. They had a big meeting of the homeowners association and later on a few of the family's put their religious objection aside and got a firearm.

I agree that the home is the primary place it would be needed and secondly the car. However, responsible gun ownership is a process and it does require a lot of practice. Every single person having a gun is definitely unnecessary, but having one for the types of situations you mentioned is really what would allow someone to be ready in the minuscule chance of something like what happened the other day.


In the other thread they talked about how the NOI does pat downs and metal detectors before entering the mosques. That would be the acceptable alternative to having someone there imo.

The situation that occurred in Texas recently with the drawing of Muhammed contest is a perfect example of a potential shooter being neutralized. Obviously the entire premise of that contest was about as bigoted, ignorant, and insensitive as it gets, but the mass shooting like this one was avoided.
