If you're 40 now you don't remember anything bout the 70s. You came up in the 80s/90s.

Right, but my parents played it in the car and around the house when I was growing up, so it was a part of my childhood like 80's and 90's music.

12 Gauge - "Dunkie Butt"

Pop:
Juve - "Back Dat Azz Up"
Heavy D - "Nuttin' But Love" (note: he sang this about potatoes.)
Will Smith - "Miami"

This something that seems to plague the older generation. and is somewhat a sign of the times. In your own assessment would you say that your parents are knowledgeable about current Hip-Hop and other genres of music or are they still bumping Bobby Blue Bland Greatest Hits? what about fashion trends

sounds exactly like my dad when he asks me about "Tie" ( he means T.I.). It's cool for the most part because he like alot of the artist i listen to Nas, Planet Asia, Roc Marciano. He still caught up on the Golden-Era always asking me if KRS dropped a new album.

My dad be listening to the radio. Only certain songs though. And he isn't really up on the new trends, but he knows its basically cool for kids to dress like goofs now. He himself wears true jeans and burberry and shyt.

My mom not at all. Shes stuck in like the 80s.
