IRS will get theirs eventually, especially if you're in the mid - high 5 digit tax bracket filing with no dependents

I know people that do this. Go ahead and go exempt and then after you get the check change it back. You won't notice it if you been paying your taxes for the whole year. I knew people that did this on quarterly bonus checks and they didn't miss it. If anything your return won't be as much as it would be but you can enjoy that money now.

I file exempt all year and just pay them back in April... fukk it
I know a guy whose father does that too. Instead of paying taxes, he deposits the money into some interest bearing account so that he can earn interest on the tax that he would pay the government. Also, you are paying the government exactly what they are supposed to get instead of giving the government an interest-free loan with your money. If you can do it, go for it. I'm not in a position to now but in a few years I will be.

...do you want to pay taxes now or pay taxes later :wtb:

If now....declare the taxes
If later....don't

most people don't have the discipline not to spend that extra bread. but if the threadstarter is one to put that money aside he's gonna need to pay the IRS, then so be it. especially if he can put that extra money in an income earning account until it's tax time.

YOU AREN'T REALLY CHEATING ANYBODY. YOU'LL JUST END UP TAKING THE HIT AT THE END OF THE YEAR. IF THE CHECK IS BIG ENOUGH YOU'LL END UP HAVING TO PAYING RATHER THAN GETTING A REFUND.
