I personally didn't bother with it. Not really a ceiling on your earnings potential as an accountant with or without it.
Bachelors degree got me to the position of CFO for a 60 million dollar logistics corporation. Earning more than 90% of CPA's at this point in my career
However that CPA cert will give you a significant earnings boost towards the beginning of your career and help avoid dead end jobs that some below average accountant might face. (plenty of "bookkeepers" out there who spend their entire career doing AP or AR for 60K a year)
on average 50% of people who take it pass, but don't stress it too much if you find it challenging, having a resume that says "controller. Comptroller, or CFO" will open just as many doors
