Some cats think just because a dude wins the heisman he's gonna beast in the league. Truth is they were only college good and just got exposed in the NFL.

I agree...but this is supposed to be the BEST player in all of college every year and the list is just :scust: you would think more on the list would translate to the league...

The award is for outstanding COLLEGE player.

Usually (not all of the time) that cat that wins it, feasts on 2nd tier college players/teams. A lot of times, the bulk of them highlights and stats we view usually come from them OOC games. Not saying they don't play good comp, but stats (and wins) usually determine the Heisman winner so the guy with the biggest stat line. It usually favors QBs as well so :yeshrug:

guys that deserve it win it (if we going by numbers) but USUALLY the best players (ie: guys that are the beasts in college and the pros) either get passed up or not nominated bc of some "inflated" stats guy (Texas Tech QBs, Hawaii QBs, RBs we NEVER hear from again, etc)

I looked at some nominees too though and a lot of the second place winners have had much better careers and aren't just products of those inflated stats

Luck behind RGIII
Luck behind Cam Newton
McFadden behind Tebow
McFadden behind Troy Smith
Adrian Peterson behind Leinart
Larry Fitzgerald behind Jason White
Drew Brees and LT 3 and 4 behind Chris Weinke :wow:

It just seems like the Heisman might be the peak for many players :yeshrug:

There's no curse. It's just that most of winners(the QBs in particular), didn't have a skill set that translates to the next level.

If you want a better barometer of college players who might be effective in the league I'd look at position oriented awards(Outland, biletnikoff, doak walker, etc) those are more centralized and focus on the position more than the stats.

the only curse is bowl game performances

The Heisman trophy does not correlate to pro success.

More than that though, this isnt a "new" idea.
