I was raised Christian but even when I was little The Bible to me and a lot of customs surrounding it always turned me off, I hated going to church when I was little and the stories never made sense, particularly the idea of God creating himself. I just kept quiet because everyone else around me was so religious while even when I tried to be I couldn't hold the same type of faith.

As I got older and more into science and education I started to doubt it even further but kept my doubts to myself, I don't know how my family would feel about it but I can't say I would really care if I came to the conclusion I didn't believe. The fear of hell was ingrained in me by the time I was 11 though.

Now being 21 and more aware of my history I can't agree with The Bible because if I did I would basically be saying before slavery and we were introduced to Christianity we had it all wrong and were living like godless heretics. It would also mean I agree with slavery as a vessel to introduce me and my people to Jesus.

At the same time, parts of the bible can be made sense of, those Hebrew Israelites saying the bible is about black people and how it describes everything we went through makes so much fukkin sense :ohlawd:

I don't know what I expect from this thread:manny: It would be nice if a knowledgeable Coli breh would chime in.

No need to struggle, Brotha.

Just remember, those people gave our people that religion to keep them in check and beyond.

You ever wonder how and why slavery thrived in this country the way it did?
Well, religion is a big piece of that puzzle.

I'm certain that on any given plantation, there were more Black people there than white people.

You catch my drift?

I got you, this is one of the things that nagged at me, the religion itself as a tool for our oppression, but part of me just don't know.:yeshrug:

Being open minded can be a curse sometimes because I can understand an atheists side and a Christians at the same time

WHat do you think about the bible? If this is a "black board" then I expect most posters to have a similar story

I don't think anything of it. I didn't grow up religious and haven't read a bible since I was like 8.

Yeah it's tough. I struggled with this myself. I think the best thing you can do is live through the teachings in the bible. Be good to others, and love thy neighbor. If that's the basis of most religions you shouldn't have to worry to much.

I feel the same way bruh.

I was raised a Christian, but I have basically lost faith over the last few years.

I'm not athiest tho, more agnostic.

Honestly, I think I would have more solace knowing there wasn't a god, so that there wouldn't be anyone to blame the shyt black people have gone through on. Then you could just attribute to the evil ways of humans.

But if there is a God and he just sat there and watched black people go through what we've been through, that nikka clearly doesn't care too much about us :francis:

Ask a religious person why he allowed it to happen and its "he works in mysterious ways":comeon:

I just need more tangible evidence of a god right now, because this "you'll be rewarded in the afterlife" shyt ain't cutting it.

Black people cant just go through what we go through and just be praying it goes away :snoop:

I just don't get what black people should be thanking God for exactly, he hasnt done shyt for us.
