Many Dominicans are obsessed with being lighter skinned. Some will blame it on Trujillo. Which I can sWe the argument. But what came first? The chicken or the egg? Trujillo didn't suddenly come up with these ideas once he got in power. He likely was raised in an environment that promoted such thing.

But while Dominicans and Jamaicans are the ones that are more known for it, this wanna-be light-skinned thing affects many blacks in many Caribbean and Latin American nations. Some far more than others.

And let's not act like black Americans are an exception to this either. Many blacks in the united States use skin lightning products(especially in the 80s and 90s when they were obsessed with curls) even tho people here are more likely to shame people for it

yea i know Haitians on average are darker, yet i met alotta mix Haitians that look like mix Dominicans again balancing the shyt out...
