Starting a new series for the '23, where I'd like to hear brothers and sisters opinions on how you compare the major cities in-states. Starting with the two Super Bowl city states, Pennsylvania and Missouri...

So for Part I, which Pennsylvania city do you all prefer between Philly and Pgh, abd why?

I've never been to Philly, I've been thru it on my way to Jersey, but never stopped and did anything in Philly. I've been told I'd like it and should go, but I have no great interest in checking it out, from the surface I'm not sure it's my kind of place...

But I have been to Pittsburgh, spent like 4 days there, and fukking loved it. Granted, I understand living there can be a different experience than visiting, and Pgh has a reputation as not being great for black folk. But it's a beautiful city, the people were friendly, food was amazing, City was popping in general. I fukk with Pittsburgh for real, they crazy over their sports and it's an educated city too...

I do like PA in general, so I could enjoy Philly. I used to hang out in Williamsport and Harrisburg, I fukk with him. Been thru a couple other spots like Hershey and Gettysburg, that Amish shyt always throws me 🤣. But PA is a very, very attractive state, I fukk with em...

Philly is better city and better sports city imo.

I give Steelers credit for expanding their fan base, might be only second to Dallas in that regard. That 70s dominance did a lot of heavy lifting. Right now you have to say Steelers over Eagles but the clock is ticking on the relevance of them old ass chips and even the 2 recent ones getting kind of stale
Phillies over Pirates due to actually having success in our lifetime. Penguins over Flyers for same reason.
Sixers, Union, Villanova wildcats put Philly over the top as better sports city. Also Philly has hosted more iconic events such as classic NCAA tourney games, drafts, and all star games

You from PA?

And is Philly really the better sports city? Pittsburgh has Pitt and Duquesne at the NCAA level...

Philly does have all five major leagues represented. Pgh only has three, it'll be a long time before the Eagles catch the Steelers, though. Steelers are a Top 5 NFL franchise, Eagles are more like Top 12 (they knocking on Top 10, though)...

I think both have an interesting educational comp. Pgh has Pitt, Duquesne, Carnegie Mellon as its Big 3, Philly has Penn, Temple, Drexel as its Big 3. Who has the better public School System?

Born and grew up in Philly.
Lived in Pitt for 4 years now.

Polar opposites culturally in many aspects. East coast vs midwest

I can be in WV or Ohio in less than 30 mins here in Pittsburgh.

Housing and rent is a lot cheaper in Pittsburgh

Both have great universities
Pittsburgh has Pitt, Duquesne, Carnegie Mellon, Robert Morris
Philly - Drexel, Lasalle, Penn, Temple… plus St Joes and Nova nearby

Which do you prefer?

Pittsburgh isn't really the Midwest, once you go beyond Ohio and get into the actual Midwest Pgh don't feel nothing like em...

yea i'm from PA
I'm just going assume that Pgh has better public schools since most in Philly are so trash. TBS, Philly does have some of the highest ranked public schools in the country in Central, Masterman, and Lower Merion. They have great private schools too including football powerhouse St. Joes.

Naw Steelers are too deep in lore at this point. Them and the Cowboys have a National Following that ain't going nowhere. The fact both are still relevant and somewhat successful helps immensely too.

Philly (BYRD GANG)
I’ll give Pittsburgh credit for the steelers as a franchise but outside of that it’s inferior to Philly in every way. They love bringing up Philly meanwhile no one from Philly cares about that racist ass midwest city :hhh:

Add to the fact we like 4 or 5 hours away from them

Philly
I went to IUP (Indiana University of PA) which is an hour away from Pittsburgh, but like 5 hours from Philly. The school is 1/2 Philly & 1/2 Pittsburgh, and I went to and still go to Pgh all of the time. Some of my closest friends are from and still live there.

Other than IUP, in which there was a mini rivalry amongst freshman, there is NO rivalry between the 2. They do not compare at all. Pgh is small, and hella damn near the country compared to Philly. It would prob be moreso looked at as a county. There's not much there. I don't even know if you can compare Pgh as a sports city, but it's definitely a Steelers town. I liked it, but I don't love it. I really only go to se my friends. But it's not even on the map as far as Philly is concerned.

Our rival is NYC. which is why Jersey is Jersey-NYC & Jersey-Philly.
