I think we all agree that having a male influence in a child's life is generally beneficial.

But do step fathers get the same respect as biological fathers?

I mean you gotta know that the first time you get into an argument with that kid....he/she is gonna bust out that "Shut up. You ain't my real father" ether.

Hmmm... my step daddy raised me from a small child. I respect him and his wishes. He treats me no different than my brother and sister which are his biological children. The only thing that I do that my mama feels is disrespectful toward him is not calling him daddy. I'm like my daddy is dead homie....

He didn't come into my life until was 19. He knew not to cross cerain boundaries with me. I respected him for that. Treated me like a man.

I learned a lot from him since then. Great role model.
