Dzali OG
Dz Ali OG...Pay me like you owe me!
Curious as to if it's easier to provide the perfect beat when the rapper provides you with the song, name, and direction, for you to provide the perfect beat?
Personally i prefer to be free to create the beats first. Sometimes when ive had requests for particular themes ive struggled. Especially trying to coordinate tracks over emails and shyt.
When im free to do what i want the beats just come out better to me..
Some idea collabs with @LauderdaleBoss and @Darkstarz Records come out real nice though...
Good thread.
For the above song (which is a storytelling song) I had the concept first and already picked out the sample (Bayonetta video game ps3)
the big UK homie @clanarchy is one of the few cats talented enough to pull it off, was instructed on what parts of the sample to use (it had to have a build up during the verses and then get epic for the chorus)
He damn near had my vision on the first attempt. He nailed it on the 2nd attempt and pretty much just had to do some tweaks to it before I wrote the actual song. Once it got recorded, he added the extra sound effects while mixing it and shyt to really bring life to the track.
Some producers will just connect with you better than others. Usually I just vibe with the beat they sent me and choose what topic is best suited for it.![]()
Good example for the thread, yo can't believe this had to be a couple of years back already....but yeah shyt just clicked on this one.
Blissful Dispair is another good example from the same album...

You still have that beat...I can really use it.
Going go ahead and put out a full album before I die...
Will be the greatest hip hop album ever. Too bad I didn't do this in my buckin days.
You gotta discover your own sauce fam. It always tastes better when you do.![]()
It's best to give the producer a fishbone of a theme/idea then let them go cook.
Too much input ruins the sauce
