Honestly, I think most of the naysayers were Europeans. The games are on at a terrible time for them and wanted to get on their high horse due to who is financially backing it. Also, a bit of classism about it because they think they're above it.

Well let's be careful here. I've acknowledged (and this is dating back a couple years now) that the top 4-5 teams in Saudi have talent and they've only gotten better but the rest of the league is ass. That's just the truth. The AFC Champions League Elite is some entertaining football though sometimes.
I just don't think people are willing to expand their horizons, Al Hilal playing well shouldn't be a shocker. I am surprised they beat City especially with City playing everyone and playing hard but hey credit to them they played a fantastic game. City still has some leaks in the back, Rodri doesn't look fit and some of their forwards like Doku don't fit the system.

Yep you’re right. Highest ratings for the tournament have been from Latin America incidentally.
But you can’t tell me the teams didn’t care about this - City bench was reacting like they were in a Champions League round of 16.

when I saw the squad Al Hilal had in the game against Madrid and Inzaghi showed up and has them getting results ASAP

Crazy fact. Hilal had three Saudis in their starting lineup and finished with four on the pitch. City had zero English players in their starting lineup.
to think people would try to tell you with a straight face that the MLS could complete with the top Saudi clubs.
Some MLS teams would prob lose to a Ugandan premier league team
