Kept seeing articles about FIFA reducing the ticket costs. They might’ve ignored the current economy of the United States, and how much more expensive it is to travel across the US than Europe.
I think it’s a mixture of things. The state of the economy obviously plays a part, especially when there’s a lot of teams that casual fans don’t care about. Most Americans only care about the big European clubs, so they aren’t going to pay top dollar to see clubs from Asia or South America.
Also, a lot of international supporters that would normally come to these games don’t feel comfortable traveling to the US with the current political climate.

However: no Barcelona is a real loss and adding the Saudi-Arabian teams likely really lowers the quality of competition. I’ll still watch key games though.
Also: the Gold Cup starts the same day and you know the South-American teams will play with passion. I expect nothing from the US (embarrassing what is happening with that squad, 0 players from European competitions) and not too much from Canada but I think we will see fireworks from other countries.
